Dance Collider VR real time environments, props and optimisation

During the period of 2018-2019 I was appointed as the main 3D artist on Dance Collider. A VR rhythm game set in the dystopian cyberpunk future. My role on the project was extensive and as follows:
- optimisation of character meshes
- designing and building environments for real time performance
- lighting and post processing
- creating particle effects and custom materials for the light shows
- working closely with the programmer to devise a light show system
- consulting with the art director and programmer
- Devising a 2.5d 'matte painting' real time cinematic for the introduction of the game
The undertaking of creating real time environments for VR in Unity required the consideration of balancing atmospheric, immersive and aesthetically pleasing environments without compromising focus and gameplay on the main game loop. I'm very grateful to have had the opportunity to work with skilled individuals such Ben, Deon and Tim at Emerge Worlds.
