Sci fi character, living armor

I came up with a premise that for a sustainable future humans had to find away to make a material that would fuse with them and adapt/evolve like a living organism. The next few images depict my exploration and final idea for the design. Most of my inspiration was drawn from the idea of beetles, carapace and exoskeletons in nature. Additionally active wear became a strong influence over the design as it appears to be the 'futuristic' clothing of choice and equally appears to function like a second layer of skin for humans.

My pipeline involved:
1. Concepting and sculpting in Zbrush
2. Retopology and UV unwrap in Maya
3. Texturing in Substance
4. Rendering in Marmoset
5. Composing images in Photoshop for turn-around presentation
